Dramatic Details About The Osmond Family Are Finally Coming To Light
We all know the Osmonds: the shiny-toothed, bright-eyed gang of youngsters who captured America’s hearts in the 1970s. And after they found fame, life for the squeaky-clean clan had to be all sunshine and roses, right? Well, not quite. When you work with your siblings, there’s bound to be tension, and the Osmonds were no exception. Behind the scenes, there was quite a lot of drama...
Why they got started
The Osmonds weren’t destined for fame, however. In fact, they only began performing for a surprising reason: two of the eldest Osmond children were deaf, and the family needed to raise money for hearing aids. At the start, they probably had no clue how famous they would get.
The new sensation
Soon, the Osmonds would reach Partridge Family-esque stardom. Fans were chasing after the singing family as if they were The Beatles, and Donny and Marie were the lovable kids who stole the show. Even at the top, however, the pair struggled.
Moving to TV
Life should have been sweet when the ABC show Donny & Marie became an instant hit. Yet that transition to TV came at a cost. The brother and sister were running up enormous bills for the studio they had built, and they had basically abandoned the lucrative music careers that would pay for it all.
Endless hours
The show took a toll on its stars as well. Donny and Marie were working 20-hour days to learn new music, practice their dance routines, and memorize dozens of scripts. The pressure was too much to bear.
