Dad Goes Deep Into The Woods With His Sons And Later Returned With A Strange ‘Gift’

Building a cabin in the woods for a year sounds like a task from the olden days. But Luke Nichols and his young sons hoped it’d be the adventure of a lifetime. And boy, they weren’t disappointed. Despite facing tough weather conditions and a whole lot more, Luke and company still had something special to show for their time in the end.

Not their first adventure

The Nichols clan made full use of the 12 months, and they documented every step on camera. It was a world away from Luke’s day job as a lawyer in Virginia! Neither he nor his sons are strangers to getting their hands dirty in the great outdoors, though. In fact, they’d already built quite a following online thanks to their previous adventures.

Outdoor Boys

Yes, along with his three sons Jacob, Tommy, and Nate, Luke runs a very popular YouTube channel called Outdoor Boys. Since it kicked off back in 2015 they’ve brought in close to two million subscribers, while their videos have earned nearly 490 million views overall. Wow! The quartet have certainly found an audience.

Setting the scene

And that audience was treated to an epic video in January 2022 detailing the family’s 12 months in the woods. Now, this particular adventure came when the coronavirus pandemic was at its height, meaning that Luke and co. had the free-time to get to work. Plus, they weren’t surviving outdoors 24/7 — there were some breaks in between.

The adventure begins...

So, now that we’ve set the scene, are you ready to dive into it? Awesome. Grab some snacks and drinks folks — you’re in for quite the ride! The video begins with Luke and Tommy venturing through a sun-kissed woodland, each carrying loaded rucksacks for the days ahead. Then, once they find an ideal spot, the pair set to work.
